• Company makes £10k contribution to help fund running costs and lower player expenses as team kicks off 25/26 season.
  • Partnership demonstrates Red Rock’s commitment to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and tackling discrimination.

Red Rock Renewables is proud to partner with Caledonian Thebans, Scotland’s oldest competitive inclusive rugby team based at Royal High School Athletic Club in Edinburgh. The partnership will see Red Rock fund new training kits, analysis equipment, storage facilities and boot cleaning equipment with the hope of avoiding rising membership costs for players.

Established in 2002, the Thebans now have three teams – Men’s+, Hydra (Women’s+) and Midas (Touch Rugby) – open to LGBTQIA+ people and their straight allies, creating a safe and welcoming environment for anyone who wants to play rugby and feel part of a community.

Neil McAllister, Chief Administrative Officer, said: “We are proud to partner with Caledonian Thebans this season and contribute to the team’s ongoing role in creating a safe, welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ players. This partnership reflects our own commitment to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and creating an inclusive, safe working environment within the renewables industry. We hope our contribution helps to make a positive impact and wish the Thebans teams the best of luck this season.”

Sam Abdulla, Caledonian Thebans RFC Chair, added: “We are incredibly grateful for this financial support from Red Rock, which will support us not only to upgrade our equipment but to ensure we can avoid raising costs for our players and supporters.

“For over 20 years we’ve pushed boundaries and challenged misconceptions on what it means to be a rugby player. We’re demonstrating that rugby is truly for all who want to play it, regardless of your sexuality, gender-identity, or level of ability. This support, will help us continue to live up to these values and remain open to all.”
