Red Rock Renewables has pledged its support to the next generation of renewable experts by sponsoring Girlguiding East Lothian’s 2025 “Festival in a Field” event for over 700 local members including Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers.
Red Rock recognises the value Girlguiding brings to the community and mirrors its commitment to ‘helping all girls know they can do anything’. This support helps bring to life our ongoing focus on equity, diversity and inclusion in STEM as well as our goals to encourage more young people into the sector regardless of their gender or background.
With a £5,000 contribution towards running costs, Red Rock is pleased to have helped support Girlguiding’s annual event and create a memorable day out full of adventure, connection and confidence-building in the great outdoors.
The Red Rock team also attended the event and held a fun STEM activity, where the girls aged 4-14 used their imagination to build mechano turbines amongst other creations, from a solar powered car to a robot which provides hugs when you’re sad. The activity provided a great opportunity to test their problem-solving skills and get stuck into the world of engineering and renewable energy, with plenty of fun and teamwork along the way.
Claire Hart-McCullagh, Red Rock’s Head of Corporate Support, said: “We’re proud to support organisations like Girlguiding – one of the UK’s most respected youth organisations – who share our commitment to empowering girls and young women. Our team is passionate about inspiring future careers in science, technology, engineering and maths throughout all sectors and of course renewables in particular. It was brilliant to see the enthusiasm the girls brought to the STEM challenge and especially our future engineers who weren’t afraid to experiment!”
Karen Masterton, County Commissioner for Girlguiding East Lothian, added: “Red Rock’s support helped us to deliver a festival full of joy, learning and inspiration for girls of all ages. The STEM activity was a huge hit — it gave the girls the chance to explore something new and see just how exciting engineering can be.”
