Red Rock Renewables and its Edinburgh-based team are proud to support Cash for Kids Day with a £10,000 donation to help combat holiday hunger across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and Falkirk this summer. The donation will see 840 children enjoy a hot meal and a day’s experience.
Cash for Kids’ annual campaign aims to provides direct support to local children living in poverty—particularly those who face food insecurity when schools close for the summer. During term time, around 2.5 million children across the UK rely on free school meals, with many also attending breakfast and after-school clubs for regular access to food and care. When these services stop over the holidays, already stretched families can struggle to provide enough food, leaving children at real risk of going hungry.
Red Rock Renewables CEO, Xiaomeng Chen, said: “Holiday hunger is a growing and urgent issue. No child should go hungry during the school break. We’re proud to support the incredible work Cash for Kids is doing in our communities and our team are looking forward to rolling up their sleeves and getting involved.”
Holiday hunger is not just about missing meals. Children in poverty can be left isolated during the break, without the same opportunities for outings and holidays. Cash for Kids is working to help change this reality for some by supporting local community groups that provide a warm welcome, organised activities, and, crucially, at least one meal a day. In addition to the £10,000 donation, Red Rock employees will volunteer with Cash for Kids and it’s partner projects to help to serve meals and support activities on the ground.
Charity Manager Vic Hendry says: “Every year we see a significant rise in the need for funding to support families living in poverty. We are already receiving a high volume of applications from community projects and clubs for funding this year, who are seeing a rise in children attending year on year.
“This amazing £10,000 from Red Rock Renewables will see 840 children are provided with a hot meal and fun activities and we cannot thank this team enough for their incredible generosity and ongoing support. They are making a huge difference to the lives of local children by giving them a summer to remember, a summer they can enjoy being a child instead of worrying about where their next meal is going to come from.”
