Red Rock Renewables has reinforced its commitment to the Circular Economy with a substantial donation to local charity, Edinburgh Remakery.

The renewable energy company has contributed £5,000 and over 50 pieces of old tech equipment to support the environmental social enterprise’s vital work in reducing e-waste and promoting sustainable practices.

Edinburgh Remakery, an award-winning charity dedicated to repairing, reusing, and refurbishing unwanted items, will use the funding to expand its e-waste refurbishment scheme, Tech Gifting Programme, and provide skills training in digital repair. The donation of laptops, monitors, and other tech equipment from Red Rock Renewables will be refurbished and redistributed to individuals and families in need, helping to bridge the digital divide while extending the life cycle of these valuable resources.

Red Rock Renewables CEO, Xiaomeng Chen, said: “The Red Rock team are proud to support the incredible work of the Edinburgh Remakery and continue our commitment to the Circular Economy. Repurposing our old equipment not only helps reduce e-waste but also provides valuable opportunities for skill development and minimising the impact of digital poverty in our local community.”

Edinburgh Remakery has a long-standing reputation for championing sustainable practices, with initiatives that include tech repair workshops, free repair cafes, creative community projects, and training programs aimed at equipping people with valuable repair and maintenance skills.

Edinburgh Remakery CEO, Elaine Brown, welcomed the donation: “We are happy to partner with Red Rock Renewables in our shared mission to reduce waste and promote digital inclusion. The generous donation of their end-of-life tech, alongside vital funding for our Tech Gifting Programme, will allow us to refurbish and gift devices to over 20 people in Edinburgh facing digital poverty. This partnership not only keeps valuable technology out of landfill but also supports green jobs and repair skills training, empowering people with sustainable opportunities. Together, we are making a real difference – both for our planet and for those in need.”
